Copyright 1998 -- Robert Baer Jr. A poem - "July 14th 1996" July 14th 1996 --- (A very free versed poem) A date in history A date few remember A date that signaled for me The beginning of the end. Someone innocent was hurt By a man she trusted If I'd been paying attention I could've stopped him. But I was too blind to see Too stupid to realize The choice of not intervening Ruined many people's lives In the game of life Some fumbles are never recovered Sometimes one single moment in time Can make all the difference How I wish with all my heart That I could relive that day And prevented the tragedy That has plagued me ever since Before that day life made sense It was well ordered and had purpose I was so sure of everything But now those days are gone forever One lesson that I've learned Nothing good in life lasts forever All joy and happiness is fleeting And dinosaurs were meant to be alone Written and Submitted by Robert Baer Jr The Computer Dinosaur
